Which is a better way to teach children to read: Whole language or phonics? – Part 10

after teaching reading and phonics as a reading tutor in Christian schools, I have concluded that the best way to teach excellence in reading is to combine the two approaches into one. Teach children to read by a combination of easy to memorize words as sight words and teach phonetic sounds, to encourage continued success. This approach has worked on literally hundreds of cases. A child writes more easily recognized, cree it easier on themselves and develop the confidence that is so vital to a student instructed happy. It's easy to fix a program using this integrated approach. Simply make a list of twenty words commonly words of the hearing. To begin, the student has to memorize ten words per week. This approach can be started and used with children as young as four years old. As you teach the word, you also begin to teach the sounds of the letter of the principle. It's surprising how many words you know your new reader in a very short time. While the reader more expert in reading, increase the number of words to learn each week. There are many letters and support that is available on the Internet, or you can upload their own. The most important aspect of this program is continuity and repetition. The words rhyme for younger students bring rapid success to the top, like a combination of various sounds and blends to help ramp up the level at which a student will learn to read. Creative writing should be added as soon as the student can read words without difficulty. This usually occurs about halfway through the school year. Have the child read daily keep focused on their learning goals. Laugh experience only increases your student 's goodwill to try harder.
