  1. Kindle: Amazon's 6" Wireless Reading Device (Latest Generation)

The first generation has an SD slot. Version 2 has more memory and the ability to offload books onto your pc.

    incorrect.

modern lithium batteries last a good 4, 5 years, plus if they aren’t easily removable, the device is thinner & more reliable.

you can replace any iPod battery for less than $15, they are not engineered to make you buy a new one, that’s absurd… they are built that way to keep them small and thin.

    now you know!

I think the Kindle 1 was easy to navigate but then I have slender hands– I imagine it might be different for a guy. I never had any complaints at all about the buttons, on/off switches, scrolling or holding it– it worked perfectly for me–the new one will take time to adjust to–I’m keeping both, and I hope the Kindle 3 comes out by next January.

I love the scroll wheel on my Kindle 1 , I don’t like the fact that my new Kindle is larger and heavier. I like being able to remove the battery, the computer voice on the Kindle 2 is not as annoying as I imagined. The device pays for itself very quickly– I will save over $400 on books, newspapers and magazines in just six months time. This is not a device for the occasional reader.

I don’t believe its a tough sale. Because its new technology and anyone interested by new technology knows the price they will have to pay to be the first one to grab one. The Kindle 1 is on EBay now for $200 and its a fine player.

Amazon is trying to imitate Apple.
No removable battery just like the Ipod.
Engineered to make you buy the new model instead of repairing the old one.
